Patience Achieng, a courageous young lady with a disability, is leading a program to help learners with disabilities in Siaya County. Her own experiences have inspired her to fight for a better future for others.
When she was 14, Patience had a stroke that left her unable to move or speak. In Nyanza, Kenya, she was repeatedly rejected by schools because they saw disabled children as too fragile, lacked government funding, and had inaccessible classrooms and toilets. The financial and emotional stress of trying to find a school was overwhelming, making her feel hopeless to the extend of contemplating suicide.
This shouldn’t happen to any other child. Every child deserves free and equal education, no matter their race or disability. Therefore, let’s support Patience in her fight for justice and sign her petition to ensure no child faces these barriers ever again.
