The Nairobi City County Government, in partnership with Zoomlion Kenya, has intensified efforts to restore cleanliness and improve public health across the city through the Safisha KaNairo campaign, a coordinated initiative aimed at transforming waste management and improving environmental conditions across Nairobi.
The initiative represents a bold commitment to achieving a cleaner, safer, and healthier city within the shortest possible time. It is also expanding sanitation and waste management interventions beyond commercial districts into residential communities across the capital.

Over the past weeks, large-scale waste evacuation and cleanup operations led by Zoomlion Kenya have been successfully completed in several parts of the city, including Borabora and Kawangare-Gitanga in Dagoretti North, Morale Road in Kamukunji, CBD Market in Starehe, Githwamba and St. Francis in Kasarani, Kinyango in Kamukunji, and Asego-Statehouse in Dagoretti North.
Additional operations have also been carried out in Vumilia in Embakasi East, Othaya Market and Kamukunji Grounds in Kibra, as well as Area 1, Korogocho Market, and Ngomongo in Ruaraka. In Mathare, major waste clearance activities have taken place at Huruma Grounds, MauMau, and Huruma Flats, significantly improving environmental conditions in these communities.
Work remains ongoing in key areas including Senior Citizen in Dagoretti South, MauMau in Mathare, and English Press in Embakasi South, where sanitation teams continue to operate around the clock to accelerate the citywide cleanup exercise.

The partnership between the Nairobi City County Government and Zoomlion Kenya is already delivering visible impact, with cleaner streets, reduced waste accumulation, and improved sanitation conditions helping to curb the spread of preventable diseases associated with poor waste management and contaminated environments.
Residents are also beginning to experience improved quality of life, healthier surroundings, and renewed community pride as the campaign gains momentum.
Speaking on the campaign, city sanitation officials emphasized that effective waste management remains critical to public health, environmental improvement, and overall urban productivity. Through Safisha KaNairo, the county and its partners are not only addressing immediate sanitation challenges but also laying the foundation for a more liveable city.

The success of this initiative will depend on sustained collaboration between government, sanitation partners, and residents. Citizens are therefore encouraged to support the campaign by practicing responsible waste disposal and actively participating in keeping Nairobi clean.
