Corruption is not something far from our daily lives. It shows up in the small bribes at local offices, in inflated costs of public projects, and in the mismanagement of resources that were meant to improve our schools, hospitals, and roads. Many of us have witnessed or even experienced how deeply it eats into the very fabric of our society. It denies young people opportunities, robs families of essential services, and leaves communities struggling with inequality and mistrust.
The weight of corruption is heavy, and it is no wonder that young people across Kenya have decided to speak out. Last year’s Gen Z protests were a loud and clear call for change. The protests showed that the frustration is real and that citizens, especially the youth, are tired of leaders who take advantage of power while citizens suffer. They reminded us that civic action is powerful and that when people stand together, their voices cannot be ignored.

This year, Transparency International Kenya is giving us another opportunity to channel that energy into action. The 2025 Integrity Walkathon, happening on Saturday 27th September in Nairobi, invites us to step forward for transparency and accountability. It is not just a walk. It is a moment for citizens to come together and say that integrity matters. It is a chance to demand better governance, stronger institutions, and a future free from the chains of corruption.
The walk will take us through powerful symbols of governance and justice in our capital city, Nairobi, starting from Freedom Corner at Uhuru Park, past Integrity House, and all the way to Parliament. Each step is a reminder that we, the people, are the true custodians of accountability. Along the way there will be conversations, cultural performances, and spaces for citizens to pledge their commitment to living by values of honesty and integrity.

At MuemAction Post, we believe that civic engagement is not optional. It is the key pillar that makes democracy real and ensures that power serves the people. That is why we stand with Transparency International Kenya and all the partners in rallying citizens for this Integrity Walkathon. This is our chance to continue what last year’s protests began, to turn frustration into constructive action, and to keep pushing for the Kenya we all deserve.
