Since last year, MuemAction Post has been a member of the leadership committee of the Environment, Climate Action and Agriculture Sector Working Group under the National Youth Council (NYC) of Kenya.
This week, the Sector Working Group committee held a successful meeting in Nairobi to review progress made over the past year and to explore practical ways of developing a more effective and responsive workplan for 2026.

The meeting was hosted by the National Youth Council and led by Mr. Johnson Rithaa, Head of Registration and Coordination. It was co-chaired by interim sector leaders, Brian Seroney from the SPAC Network and 3Es Experience, who serves as Vice Chair, and Mohamed Almas, who represented the Chair, Sheila Anyango of Youth Senate Kenya. MuemAction Post was represented by our Executive Director, Boniface Harrison, while Faridah Chemutai represented the Kenya Climate Change Working Group (KCCWG).
One of the key highlights from the meeting was the confirmation that the Environment, Climate Action and Agriculture Sector Working Group is currently the largest sector under the NYC. It brings together members from 24 counties across Kenya. Out of the 402 registered youth-serving organizations so far, 343 belong to this sector, demonstrating the growing interest and commitment of young people to environmental sustainability, climate action, and agriculture.

Members also acknowledged several milestones achieved in 2025 through collaboration. Notably, MuemAction Post offered sponsored slots to members of the Sector Working Group during the Climate-Smart Agripreneurs Workshop and the Resource-Smart Changemakers Workshop, reinforcing the spirit of solidarity and shared learning within the sector.
The National Youth Council further supported youth-led organizations by bringing them on board for local events, including engagements held in Mombasa, Nyeri and by organizing capacity-building initiatives such as the Resource Mobilization Workshop towards the end of the year. Additionally, some members benefited from opportunities to participate in the Pre-Local Conference of the Youth Kenya across various regions.
While these achievements are encouraging in the inception year of the working group, members agreed that more needs to be done to strengthen engagement through initiatives and opportunities that are more empowering, inclusive, and impactful.

The sector leadership reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with member organizations through continuous consultation and shared decision-making.
In the coming days, the Sector Working Group leadership will reach out to member organizations to enhance solidarity and facilitate structured deliberations on key priority issues that will shape the sector’s work moving forward.
