Zoomlion Kenya Waste Services Limited has launched an Eco-Friendly Waste Management Farm at Wangu Comprehensive Primary & Junior School in Dandora, Nairobi, in a move aimed at promoting sustainable waste management, environmental conservation and community empowerment.
The launch was attended by Hon. Esther Passaris, EBS, Nairobi County Woman Representative, who partnered with Zoomlion Kenya on the environmental initiative. Other attendees included Kenneth Kumi, Zoomlion Kenya Head of Operations, Nairobi; Wachira Kagunya, Headteacher of Wangu Primary School; and Julius Were, a 2027 parliamentary aspirant, alongside other stakeholders.
Turning Urban Waste into Sustainable Value
The project highlights how organic waste can be converted into nutrient-rich compost to improve soil fertility, support sustainable agriculture and reduce the volume of waste sent to disposal sites. This approach also promotes a circular economy by turning discarded organic materials into valuable resources.
The farm is envisioned as a practical learning and training centre where schoolchildren, young people and women-led enterprises can gain knowledge and skills in composting, sustainable food production and environmentally friendly practices. Through these activities, the initiative aims to promote green entrepreneurship, create livelihood opportunities and strengthen communities’ resilience to climate change.
The project also reflects Zoomlion Kenya’s commitment to connecting its waste management operations with public leadership and grassroots environmental action. Through waste collection, market cleanups, organic waste recovery and environmental education, the company continues to promote the shared responsibility of keeping communities clean and healthy.

Commemorating Mazingira Day 2026
The launch was part of activities marking Mazingira Day 2026, featuring a school tour, corporate social responsibility engagement and environmental awareness activities at Wangu Comprehensive Primary & Junior School.
The initiative highlights the importance of educating young people about responsible waste disposal, recycling, tree planting and protecting the planet. By introducing practical environmental activities within the school community, Zoomlion Kenya is demonstrating how businesses, public leaders and educational institutions can collaborate to advance conservation and create a cleaner, greener Nairobi.

A Pan-African Commitment to a Cleaner Future
From Ghana to Kenya, Zoomlion Kenya is part of a broader African waste management vision that promotes locally driven solutions to environmental challenges across the continent.
As Kenya commemorates Mazingira Day, the initiative serves as a reminder that environmental protection requires collective responsibility, practical solutions and sustained community participation. Individuals, schools, businesses and public institutions all have a role to play in building a cleaner and more sustainable future.
Let’s protect Planet Earth and take responsibility for keeping our environment clean. Plant a tree today and contribute to a greener, healthier and more resilient future.
