We were honored to participate in the 2nd Media and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Conference held in Nairobi this week.
Our presence was particularly significant given our mission to leverage media as a tool to inspire action on social issues through empowering people with knowledge, as most of you may know.

Keynote speakers and panelists shared key insights on pressing issues including:
- The importance of collaboration between media and CSOs to advance human rights and civic freedoms in Kenya, with a shared commitment to integrity and sincerity.
- The necessity for ethical and responsible media practices, especially in this era of advanced technologies like artificial intelligence.
- The need to protect press freedom and support CSOs’ work in building a progressive democracy.
- The need for support in addressing mental health and financial stability among media practitioners and human rights defenders.
- That combating workplace sexual harassment through policy and moral initiatives is essential to ensure safe work environments for all.
The Civic Freedoms Forum (CFF) organized the event in partnership with other organizations such as the European Union, Constitution and Reform Education Consortium (CRECO), the Media Council of Kenya, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Transparency International Kenya, Inuka, Article 19 Eastern Africa, Katiba Institute, Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK), InformAction, Kenya Correspondents, among others.
We are grateful to have been part of this enriching forum, where we learnt, connected with fellow social development champions, and are geared up to collaborate towards a better future for our people and country.
